We've had a great start to 2017 and we hope you have as well! But today we’re taking a look at the back end of last year when we were involved in a fantastic project with Willmott Dixon Interiors and The Construction Youth.
The Construction Youth Trust supports young adults between the age of 16 -25 to gain employment and training into the construction sector. Locally, there was a youth centre yet it was a youth centre that was in desperate need of some TLC to make it a better place to train young adults in a workshop and classroom environment. As a result of that need and a continued drive to encourage more young people into construction, Willmott Dixon Interiors committed to supporting a refurbishment programme as well as taking 25 young adults under their wings to help with the necessary work.
Through our contacts at Wilmott Dixon we were asked to present to the young workforce, to outline the opportunities available and why they should consider working in the construction industry essentially taking us back to school but making us teacher for the day! It was a fantastic day with some wonderfully keen young workers and the engagement was fantastic. Following our session we have committed to creating the group’s CV profiles which will help to outline all of the training they completed whilst on the programme. On top of this the project's crowning achievement was the announcement that following the project several of the young workers were taken on directly by Willmott Dixon. Congratulations to all of you!
The project lasted approx. 6 weeks and Willmott Dixon Interiors were recognised for their achievements when they won ‘Best Corporate Responsibility Initiative’ at the Construction Investing in Talent Awards in December. A fantastic initiative which was well worthy of such an accolade!
Following this we have recently tendered to be part of the Trades & Labour PSL for the next two years supporting Willmott Dixon Interiors projects nationally and we have been selected as a chosen partner which is great news.
This is the start of us developing a fruitful relationship to support the delivery of their projects over the next 24 months and we're sure there will be other programmes this year we will be part of, leading to more opportunities for you!
