A fantastic opportunity has arisen with one of our clients who are a metalworking company specializing in the design, manufacture, supply, and installation of architectural metalwork. They also design structural steelwork (primary & secondary), bespoke and standard metalwork, sheet metalwork in both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and a wide range of architectural glass and glazing systems. Typically, their product range encompasses balconies, balustrading, feature staircases, escape stairs, industrial access, glass canopies, and light structural steelwork.

Due to continued expansion and a heavy workload, they are now looking for an experienced workshop manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience within the architectural metalwork industry but can be from a welding steelwork and fabrication background. If you have supervised a workshop within a steel environment this would be a good job for you.

Responsibility & Duties

  • Must be able to read fabrication drawings and relay instruction to employees.
  • Organization of the jobs through the workshop making sure they are completed to the correct standard within the allocated lead time.
  • Manage and coordinate production staff whilst ensuring all company regulations are adhered to.
  • Liaise with managers and draughtsmen were necessary to check any aspect of the job specification.
  • To identify and manage any issues with work schedules including quality control, production defects, and material supply issues.
  • Time management and the ability to plan works ahead is necessary as you will be running multiple jobs.
  • To make sure all working areas comply with all Health and Safety guidelines.
  • When work levels require, you will need to assist with production.
  • Working to CE certification standards.

Experience & Qualification

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory/team leading experience in a fabrication workshop.
  • In-depth understanding of Welding and Fabrication processes.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Computer skills advantageous
