Are you a Bid Manager looking for your next option? Do you have a full and extensive knowledge of M&E? Have you tendered on projects valued over £15 million? Are you able to work in London? If so and you are seeking a day rate in the region of £350 - £500 then please read on......

My client are a very large mechanical and electrical sub-contractor that have a presence in the UK, Qatar and Europe and are looking at growing even more in London so are now looking at adding to their current pre-construction team. Turnover this year is approaching £200 million.

This company have a great reputation for tackling tough mechanical and electrical projects valued from £15 million up to £100 million and are growing at the right speed. They specialise in the airports, stadia, rail and commercial and choose to stay away from the residential market. Their head office is based in Central London with great access via public transport.

This Bid Manager role will be reporting directly into the Pre-Construction Director and working with the pre-con team. Duties will consist of:

  • To support the Business Development Team in providing clear, concise, dynamic and focused tender return proposals for M&E.
  • To manage and coordinate the PQQ, RFI and tender processes to ensure the accurate submission of all relevant information to the prescribed tender timetable
  • Review and demonstrate an understanding of tender documents highlighting key aspects, requirements and identify "key" areas of risk together with mitigation.
  • To ensure that all assumptions/exclusions are fully detailed both internally and externally. And to then ensure that a commercial version of assumptions is returned within the customer quotation document.
  • Maintain and build relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Extract and agree with sales lead key Unique Selling Points (USP)'s for use in Executive Summary
  • To manage and produce commercial bids and documentation for approval of the Commercial Team
  • Apply innovative and alternative solutions to tender requirements
  • Attend post tender presentations if required
  • Attend site, presentations or interviews as and when required

The ideal candidate has worked for a large scale M&E Contractor on project over £15 million. The client has asked that this person comes from a technical background, again ideally from an estimating or design background. They would also consider somebody who hasn't stepped fully into the Bid Manager role but has had a lot of liaison with.

I personally think this person could be a Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Estimator or Design Manager who has plenty of tender and pre-con experience.
