Consulting Engineer (Mechanical Design) - Client Side

£85,000 - £100,000 pa

City of London, London, UK

Ref: RE1431

Date Advertised:28th January 2020

Start Date:27th February 2020

Consulting Engineer (Mechanical Design) - Client Side Role

Up to £85-100,000 per annum plus benefits

Are you a Consulting Engineer (with a mechanical bias) currently working for a consultancy in London but now fancy working directly for the client instead?! Do you constantly look for creative solutions to problems rather than just rely on what has always been done? Do you enjoy innovation and constantly pushing boundaries and challenging mindsets? Perhaps this could be the role for you!!

McGinley CEP are excited to present a unique opportunity to the market with the chance for a Consulting Engineer, with a mechanical bias, to work "client-side". Our client is a progressive Developer with an ever-expanding portfolio of impressive major mixed-use projects across London. This year will see the start of their latest "megaproject" - a £600m mixed-use scheme in Central London which will take roughly five years to complete - and we anticipate at least one other development of similar size to come through this year. The environment is a collaborative and creative one where employees are encouraged to embrace change and look for new ways to solve problems. This is a very forward-thinking organisation and not your standard construction/property business!

Our client is seeking a Consulting Engineer/Design Manager with an electrical bias, ideally from a consulting background, to join their office in Central London. Specifically, the role will involve consulting on all mechanical systems including plumbing, gas distribution, sprinklers, HVAC, ventilation (smoke and emergency)on major new build developments. Within this role, you'll be expected to:

  • Implement your technical expertise including optimal and innovative technical solutions into company projects via the design brief (and company standards).
  • Help prepare scope of works for external design teams/consultants (and subsequently support and manage said external design teams).
  • Review design packages.
  • Be involved in all design stages up to commission and fit-out.
  • Supply immediate advice on alternative solutions on the spot - these can vary from minor changes to principal system changes.
  • Review alternative technical solutions and adopt them into company standards (via approved procedure).
  • Adopt client representation role on projects.

In order to be considered you will ideally have the following:

  • Significant experience with design engineering in the construction industry with a mechanical bias (at least five years as an absolute minimum).
  • Previous experience having worked in a consultancy environment.
  • Relevant engineering/construction degree.
  • A relevant chartership would be advantageous, not essential.
  • Familiar with building certification systems (BREEAM, WELL, LEED, etc) and software packages such as AutoCAD and Revit. Understanding of DIALux and IES software is an advantage.
  • Major project experience within London.
  • Confident, personable individual who is capable of engaging with senior stakeholders.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

In return, our client is offering a market-leading salary of up to circa £85,000 to £100,000 per annum plus a benefits package comprising pension, medical and bonus. Apply now for immediate consideration or contact Richard Evans in the London McGinley CEP office for an informal discussion.

Services advertised by McGinley CEP are that of an employment business and/or agency.
