Fantastic opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to work on one of my clients flagship highways projects in Cheshire.

As Managing Quantity Surveyor you will operate as the commercial lead for the scheme and be responsible for the execution and performance of the Quantity Surveying function for the contract, maximising quality, service and probability.

The project will involve upgrading pavements, barriers and drainage as well as installation of gantries, emergency refuge areas and technical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On a day to day basis, the role reports directly to the Commercial Lead. You will contribute to the day to day commercial function effectiveness
  • The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills along with a pro-active approach to achieving pre-determined deadlines for monthly reporting on all of the commercial aspects associated with the contract
  • Line Manager to the project quantity surveying team on project
  • Represent Company on designated commercial matters on project
  • Ensuring adequate surveyor/estimator resources for the portfolio of works
  • Feasibility assessment developing cost plans for self-delivery works
  • Management of costs
  • Management of the Change process on the project
  • Management of procurement
  • To take responsibility for the execution of the Quantity Surveying function on allocated contract for subordinates
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the client and stakeholders
  • Ensure client commercial requirements are achievement
  • The role will include regular weekly reviews of cost and value with monthly financial analysis and forecast meetings with the Management team
  • Supervision, development and training of subordinates
  • Ensure Company and JV position is protected in terms of Change management
  • Ensure procurement is delivered to targets agreed with Commercial Lead and to programme requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

  • HNC, HND or Degree educated in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
  • A contracting background within Civil Engineering - you must have prior experience on Major Projects / Highways England projects
  • A working knowledge of method of measurement for highways work is required together with experience of the NEC form of contract
  • Experience of Design and Build contracts
  • Ability to work on a National Level and as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication skills along with a pro-active approach to achieve pre-determined deadlines for monthly reporting on all the commercial aspects associated with the contract
