Are you fed up of working in the UK? Fancy a change of scenery? Keen to work on a large exciting project in Belgium but have the opportunity at coming home regularly? Do you have experience of working on large scale projects? Are you seeking a salary up to £75,000 plus pension, private health care, 10% bonus and a very healthy relocation packaged? My client are one of the largest contractors in Europe and have a strong London presence but are needing to add to their current commercial team on a large project in Belgium. They generally work on large scale mixed use schemes above £50 million all across Europe. This particular project is a mixed use scheme valued at £250 million. The language on site is English and the contract is in English.

This client are known for treating their staff well and rewarding hard work by training and developing their current team and rewarding people with good salary increases and bonuses. However due to them winning more work they are having to expand their current team.

They have a very fresh way of working, dress down in the office, flexible working hours and like people that challenge the way they do things. They are always looking for new ideas and encourage all staff to bring in new ideas.

This Quantity Surveyor will be reporting into a Commercial Director and be responsible for a certain package depending on skill set. Generally on a project of this size they will have a 2x QS's on the M&E, 2 x QS's on general building ie roof, cladding and fit out and then 1 x Senior QS on the civils package.

Other duties will consist of:

This person will have regular meetings with the Commercial Director and again depending on experience could be managing a team.

  • Provide feasibility cost estimates, provide cost advice of alternative design solutions and offer commercial advice in the development of the design prior to appointment of sub-contractors.
  • Input to and develop the trade package specific procurement strategy and subsequently the production of tender documents, tender assessment and trade contractor appointment.
  • Deliver and/or engage with the delivery of post contract duties including payment, cost reporting and trade contract administration.
  • Engage with and build on existing and new sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Deliver better buying, supply chain management to deliver an optimised cost & value solution.
  • Fulfil the lead role for closing the procurement of trade packages, including the conclusion of tender adjudication to deliver a fixed price lump sum.
  • Generate, challenge and deliver the principles of Value Management opportunities during design development, tendering and delivery stages of the project.
  • Working on site with the sub-contractors, monitoring and paying them with completed works
  • Working on any variations with the client and supply chain

I feel this is an excellent opportunity for somebody who is looking for international experience but still wanting to be able to come home every so often. It's also an opportunity to work on a fast paced project with an exciting main contractor who have a lot of work on.

If you would like to know more about the role and the company please call Ricky in the London office on 0203 871 4912 or email in your CV and I'll be in touch.
