Do you want to work for an exciting developer based in the city of London? Are you seeking to work on projects from £30 - £800 million? Do you have experience of working with concrete? Are you seeking a salary up to £85,000 plus pension, private health care, 10% bonus? If so please read on....

My client are one of the largest Developers in Europe and have a strong London presence but are still growing and need to add to their current commercial team. They generally work on commercial new build projects in Zones 1-4 with a build value on average of £80 million. However they have a huge project kicking off in late 2019 that will need a lot of Cost Planning for.

This client have a very fresh approach and buy land, usually demolish what's there and try to build something in it's place that is iconic and a better design. They have an in house construction team who will build the project and therefore the ideal candidate will be somebody who can work on a project from inception to completion.

They have a very fresh way of working, dress down in the office, flexible working hours and like people that challenge the way they do things. They are always looking for new ideas and encourage all staff to bring in new ideas.

This Shell & Core Commercial Manager will be reporting into a Commercial Director and be responsible for looking at the supply chain with regards to the shell & core parts of the building.

Other duties will consist of:

This person will have regular meetings with the Commercial Director and again depending on experience could be managing a team.

  • Provide feasibility cost estimates, provide cost advice of alternative design solutions and offer commercial advice in the development of the design prior to appointment of sub-contractors.
  • Input to and develop the trade package specific procurement strategy and subsequently the production of tender documents, tender assessment and trade contractor appointment.
  • Deliver and/or engage with the delivery of post contract duties including payment, cost reporting and trade contract administration.
  • Work closely with Development Managers and the design team to optimise concept design, specification, performance and commercial position.
  • Engage with and build on existing and new sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Deliver better buying, supply chain management to deliver an optimised cost & value solution.
  • Fulfil the lead role for closing the procurement of trade packages, including the conclusion of tender adjudication to deliver a fixed price lump sum.
  • Generate, challenge and deliver the principles of Value Management opportunities during design development, tendering and delivery stages of the project.

I feel this is an excellent opportunity for somebody working for a specialist concrete sub-contractor who wants to expand their career opportunities or for somebody who is looking at working for a very exciting developer. In my opinion there are not many companies with this much pipeline for the next 4-5 years.
